Umpire Roster
You will find the 5 Weekly Roster on this page. We notify all the umpires via email when there is a change to the roster and also advise the weekly buddy allocations.
If you have an X: You are umpiring. You need to be at the courts AT LEAST 15 minutes before your game. You then sign in at the umpire’s window of the kiosk and get your court number, proceed to the St Ives tent in front of court 1 and 4 and write down your court number and sign your name on the umpire sign on sheet, then proceed to the court.
If you have a SB: You are on Standby. You need to be at the courts AT LEAST 15 minutes before your game. You then sign in at the umpire’s window of the kiosk and they will thank you and send you off. Proceed to the St Ives tent and sign next to your name for Standby. You then walk back to the umpire’s window and hang around until they call your name. They wait about 5 minutes into the game before letting umpires go in case an umpire has not turned up.
If you have a Blue STI SB: You are not required to umpire at all and do not have to be at the courts for the time slot. I may call on you but would call or text you by 9pm on Friday evening if you are required.
We produce a roster which allocates St Ives umpires to each timeslot we are required to provide umpires for. You will probably find that to begin with you are only umpiring every second week because we have more umpires than games. However, during the season, we may be able to find extra games for our umpires.
The roster identifies all the St Ives teams playing in a timeslot and assigns an umpire to that team. However, you will not be umpiring this team; you will be allocated a different game to umpire. Each grade is allocated an umpiring level; this is the minimum badge that can umpire this grade. This means that in each timeslot we have to provide an umpire of the badge level or higher for each of our teams playing. (Eg Intermediate 1 games require an umpire with a badge HD or above). As well we have to provide KNA with a Stand By umpire for each timeslot we have umpires allocated. If you are on Stand By (SB on the roster) you MUST turn up and be waiting at the KNA umpiring window to be allocated to a game if required. Stand By umpires are usually only required to wait at the umpiring window for up to 15 minutes, and are then released by KNA. You will still be paid if you are a KNA Stand By umpire.
Sometimes St Ives provides umpires for other clubs and we list these clubs on the roster. We also sometimes provide umpires at the last minute for other clubs. If you are umpiring for another club you do not need to contact the other club, the Umpire Convenor sorts out the admin and KNA know you as a St Ives umpire.
St Ives also assigns a St Ives Stand By (STI on the roster) to each timeslot. This means that you will be contacted to umpire if someone calls in sick so you must be prepared to umpire that day, if you have not been contacted before 9pm on Friday to let you know that you are required you do not need to turn up to umpire.
The roster allocates umpires for each of the 14 competition weeks, however the roster changes regularly so do not assume your allocation for the season is not going to change. We notify all the umpires via email when there is a change to the roster.
We realise there may be weeks you are unable to umpire (school camps etc.) so if you are unable to umpire you must let us know so that we do not allocate you to umpire that week. Even if you are not rostered on you should advise us so that if we are making changes we do not allocate you on a week you cannot make.
